Fall on Miracle Mile: Izakaya Nights, Gallery Night & What's Next

What's new around Miracle Mile this fall — Stand's izakaya debut, Gallery Night, Giralda in Bloom, and more near your office space in Coral Gables.

The umbrellas are still up, the sidewalks are finally walkable again, and the fall dining calendar is filling in fast. If you work out of an office in Coral Gables — or you're weighing office space Coral Gables against the rest of the Miami office market — late September is when the neighborhood around Miracle Mile starts earning its keep. Here's what's new, what's coming, and where to point clients and colleagues over the next few weeks.

Stand goes izakaya after dark

One of the most interesting fall storylines on the Mile is happening at Stand, the 24-seat Japanese café at 98 Miracle Mile from chef Shingo Akikuni and Kenzie Motai — the team behind Miami's Michelin-starred omakase counter Shingo. Since opening in June, Stand has been a daytime spot for milk-bread sandos, bento boxes, and specialty matcha. According to Miami New Times, beginning this fall the café transforms at night into an izakaya, serving Japanese small plates with sake, wine, and beer in a moodier, sound-designed room.

For anyone officing nearby, that's a meaningful upgrade: a Michelin-pedigree kitchen you can walk to for a casual after-work client drink, without booking weeks out. Keep an eye on it as the evening service ramps up.

More seats coming to the Mile

The pipeline behind the Mile's restaurant revival keeps growing. Miami New Times reports that Moxies — the upscale-casual Canadian chain in the middle of a U.S. expansion push — is planning a massive new Coral Gables location, with local reporting pointing to a two-story space on Miracle Mile. No opening date yet, but it's another vote of confidence in downtown Coral Gables foot traffic.

Meanwhile, a Gables success story is exporting itself: Daniel's Miami, the award-winning Coral Gables steakhouse from Thomas and Kassidy Angelo, has announced plans for an 11,500-square-foot waterfront restaurant in Edgewater overlooking Biscayne Bay, per Miami New Times — though that one won't arrive until late 2027 at the earliest. The flagship remains right here in the Gables.

If you're still catching up on this month's openings — Bar Zorro's Spanish tapas on Giralda, Ami Ami's Alsatian flatbreads, Pizza Bear's sourdough pies — we covered them in our September restaurant roundup and last week's Miracle Mile update.

On the calendar: Gallery Night, Giralda Live, and a vintage market

A few dates worth blocking off:

This Saturday, September 26: the Coral Market returns to the historic Merrick House, showcasing "all things vintage" per the city's events calendar. It's a low-key weekend option if you're showing visitors around beyond the usual Miracle Mile loop.

Friday, October 2: the first Friday of the month brings the double-header of Gables Gallery Night — the free monthly art walk through downtown's galleries — and Giralda Live, which runs from 7 to 11 p.m. on Giralda Plaza with live music from 8 to 10 p.m., alfresco dining, and local vendors. First Fridays are the single best evening to introduce out-of-town guests to downtown Coral Gables.

All fall: Giralda in Bloom, the overhead installation of hundreds of flower-inspired umbrellas from the designers of Portugal's Umbrella Sky Project, stays up through October, according to Miami Today. If you haven't taken a lunch under it yet, the clock is ticking.

And while nothing official has been posted for this year, Fritz & Franz Bierhaus on Merrick Way has hosted its Coral Gables Oktoberfest for over 25 years — worth checking their schedule if steins and bratwurst are your team-outing speed.

Why this matters if you're choosing an office

Amenities like these are quietly part of the office rental Coral Gables value equation. Brokers can quote you rents all day, but the day-to-day reality of an office is lunches, client dinners, and the walk between them — and few submarkets in the Miami office market pack as much of that into four walkable blocks as the Miracle Mile and Giralda Plaza district. It's a big part of why tenants who tour here tend to stay. (For the full case, see our district-by-district guide to officing in Coral Gables.)
