New in the Gables: Bar Zorro, Ami Ami & Havana Harry's Return

September has brought a cluster of new openings to downtown Coral Gables — a Spanish tapas bar on Giralda Avenue, a European-style café on the Mile itself, and word that one of the Gables' most beloved Cuban institutions is coming back this fall. Bar Zorro brings Spanish tapas to Giralda Avenue

The buzziest arrival of late summer is Bar Zorro at 146 Giralda Avenue, a Spanish tapas and cocktail lounge that quietly opened in August in the space that previously housed Clutch Burger. It comes from the team behind Calista Taverna — the Greek restaurant just two doors down on Giralda — and fast-casual My Cousin Nick on Ponce, so these are operators who already know the neighborhood well.

According to a menu preview from The Burn Miami, expect Iberian classics like pan con tomate, tortilla de patatas, gambas al ajillo, jamón ibérico, and bacalao croquetas, plus more creative plates such as oxtail-stuffed piquillo peppers and huevos rotos con jamón. The Infatuation's running list of new Miami openings, updated this week, also flags a txuleta burger with piparra aioli for anyone who wants something heartier than small plates. Ami Ami: a daytime café lands on Miracle Mile

Over on the Mile, Ami Ami has opened at 318 Miracle Mile as a daytime café and self-described cultural space — a rarity in a corridor better known for sit-down dining. Its specialty is flammkuchen, the thin Alsatian flatbread, which The Burn Miami previewed back in August. Per The Infatuation, current hours run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. most days, stretching to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Translation for office tenants: a legitimate new spot for morning coffee meetings and quick working lunches, right on Miracle Mile.

Pizza Bear and Bar Mini round out Ponce

The openings aren't limited to the pedestrian core. Pizza Bear, a sourdough pizza shop at 1831 Ponce de Leon Blvd, debuted in September — the leftover dough becomes focaccia, per The Infatuation — and Bar Mini, a pop-up cocktail bar from the acclaimed Zitz Sum team, has been pouring frozen palomas at 3005 Ponce de Leon Blvd since July. Both are easy detours if your office rental in Coral Gables sits along the Ponce corridor.

Havana Harry's is coming back this fall

Perhaps the biggest news for longtime Gables regulars: Havana Harry's, the Cuban comfort-food institution founded in 1995 and recognized by the Michelin Guide, is reopening at 4612 South LeJeune Road this fall after more than a year closed. What Now Miami reports that owner Centurion Restaurant Group — the team behind Bulla Gastrobar and Pisco y Nazca — has renovated the space with green leather booths and tropical artwork while deliberately leaving the menu untouched, ropa vieja and chicken vaca frita included. Catch Giralda in Bloom before it's gone

If you haven't walked Giralda Plaza lately, look up. The city's 2026 Giralda Sky Series is in its second act: "Giralda in Bloom," a canopy of hundreds of flower-patterned umbrellas suspended over the plaza, runs through October, according to the City of Coral Gables. It's the follow-up to the woven-textile installation that hung earlier this summer — and it makes the plaza's outdoor tables one of the most pleasant al fresco lunch settings in the Miami office market.
