Halloween on the Mile & the Gables' New Restaurant Wave

Halloween weekend on Miracle Mile: Trick-or-Treat, Drink-or-Treat bar crawl specials, plus new restaurants coming to Coral Gables this fall.

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and downtown Coral Gables is treating it accordingly: a full afternoon of family programming on Miracle Mile, a bar crawl after dark, a Día de los Muertos celebration, and — because the Gables dining scene refuses to take a week off — a stack of new restaurant news worth knowing. If your office space in Coral Gables puts you within walking distance of the Mile, this weekend is one of the best arguments for it all year.

Saturday Afternoon: Trick-or-Treat on the Mile

The city's annual Trick-or-Treat on the Mile runs Saturday, October 31 from 3 to 6 p.m., and it's free. Kids collect candy at participating Miracle Mile businesses, with face painting and a balloon artist starting around 3:30 p.m. and a magic show at 5 p.m. Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre (280 Miracle Mile) layers on a 2 p.m. performance of The Wizard of Oz, a kiddie costume parade at 4:30 p.m., and Jekyll & Hyde at 8 p.m. for the grown-ups. The Coral Gables Museum even hosts a Halloween doggie costume contest at 2 p.m., per the city's events calendar.

Also on Saturday: a Día de los Muertos celebration presented by the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami together with the City of Coral Gables — a reminder that downtown's cultural programming runs deeper than candy.

Saturday Night: Drink-or-Treat Downtown

When the kids clear out, Drink-or-Treat takes over from 6 to 10 p.m. It's a self-guided crawl across downtown — no tickets needed. Grab a punch card at your first stop, collect punches with drink purchases, and a limited-run souvenir glass awaits at select spots.

The specials are real, according to the city's listings: 450Gradi (130 Miracle Mile) pours all drinks at $10 from 6 to 9 p.m., Francesco (278 Miracle Mile) serves a $12 "Inka Blood" cocktail all day, and John Martin's (253 Miracle Mile) transforms into "The Halloween Bar." Over on Giralda Plaza, Costazul mixes spooky $12 cocktails, Eating House brings a live DJ for happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m., and Cebada Rooftop runs happy hour from 5 to 8 p.m. We previewed the October lineup in our Drink-or-Treat guide — this weekend is the main event.

The New-Restaurant Pipeline Keeps Filling

October was already a big month for Gables dining — Clay Conley's Imoto landed on Miracle Mile just two weeks ago — and the pipeline isn't slowing down. According to MiamiCurated's late-October eating news:

La Pecora Bianca opens November 2 at the Shops at Merrick Park, in the former Villagio space. It's the New York Italian brand's first restaurant outside NYC — roughly 300 seats, dinner nightly to start, with lunch and brunch to follow. Expect it to become a client-dinner staple fast.

STAND Japanese Cafe at 98 Miracle Mile — from Michelin-starred chef Shingo Akikuni and the team behind Shingo — is now offering bento boxes ($18.95–$23.95, six options from salmon to pork katsu). The space is tiny, so takeout is the move. For anyone working near the Mile, this may be the best desk lunch in the Miami office market.

D's Rooftop, a new open-air rooftop above Daniel's Miami at 1518 San Ignacio Avenue from Gioia Hospitality Group, launches with a watch party for Saturday's Miami–North Carolina game, plus weekly programming like Steak & Cigar Thursdays.

And looking ahead: Call Your Mother, the D.C.-born bagel shop and deli, is set to open its first South Florida location in December at 317 Miracle Mile, per MiamiCurated. One farewell to note — Misha's Cupcakes has closed, including its South Dixie Highway location.

Mark the calendar, too: Gables Gallery Night returns Friday, November 6.

Why This Matters If You Work Here

Amenity density is an underrated line item when choosing an office rental in Coral Gables. A street where you can host a client lunch at a Michelin-starred chef's counter, walk a recruit past a dozen sidewalk cafés, and send the team to a Halloween happy hour without moving the car is a street that makes your business easier to run. It's a big part of why executive suites in Coral Gables keep outperforming commodity space elsewhere in the Miami office market.

Put Your Office in the Middle of It

Gables Executive Offices sits steps from Miracle Mile and Giralda Plaza, with furnished executive suites, staffed reception, conference rooms, and flexible terms — move in and let the neighborhood do the entertaining.
